This is IT! This week starts the Big 2’s Big Events! BATMAN #21 starts the 4-part Flash crossover “THE BUTTON” and has a spiffy lenticular cover! SECRET EMPIRE #0 is an integral part of the Secret Empire storyline (unlike many #0 issues) and absolutely hits the ground running. In that regard, CAPTAIN AMERICA STEVE ROGERS #16 also has a lot of Secret Empire set-up. Image has 2 new vicious #1’s, REDNECK #1 and PLASTIC #1. Both gritty and dark. Image also gives us the delightful CURSE WORDS #4, MONSTRESS #11 and a bunch more. Marvel also debuts NICK FURY #1 and the ongoing MONSTERS UNLEASHED #1. And there are some great original graphic novels this week, too. Jeff Lamire’s ROUGHNECK, HELLBOY INTO THE SILENT SEA HC written by Mike Mignola and gorgeously illustrated by Gary Gianni, and Cecil Castellucci’s SOUPY LEAVES HOME with art by Jose Pimienta. And finally, Eddie Brock returns to VENOM #6.
*pssst* Word on the street is you’re lookin’ for some good comics, right? Some of that sweet new stuff is whatcha want, right? Well look no further—we got the goods! Those goods include GODSHAPER #1(There's a god for every person and a person for every god...though for Ennay, unfortunately exceptions may apply. People like him are Godshapers, godless social pariahs with the ability to mold and shape the gods of others. Paired with Bud, an off-kilter but affectionate god without a human, the two travel from town to town looking for shelter, a hot meal, and the next paying rock 'n' roll gig), GRASS KINGS #2, X-MEN BLUE #1, HARROW COUNTY #22, BLACK PANTHER CREW #1(Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Manifold band together to take on a dangerous wave of street-level threats in this new ongoing series), SEVEN TO ETERNITY #5, DEADPOOL VS PUNISHER #1, ROSE 1(Rose must connect with her Khat-Thorne-to become the Guardian the world needs. But things aren't easy for Rose and Thorne, the powerful sorcerous Drucilla has many powerful and demonic allies-all of them focused on stopping one scared little girl who's desperately trying to stay alive and do what's right) and WEAPON X #1(The Weapon X program produced the deadliest mutant killers on the planet. Now, with more research, more funding and more Adamantium at its disposal, the Weapon X program is creating new killers for old targets: Old Man Logan. Sabretooth. Lady Deathstrike. Weapon X isn't just experimenting on mutants anymore...it's eradicating them). See? Noting but the pure stuff.
